All Ely Pickleball Club members agree to the following code of conduct, which is established to provide an environment in which all players can play the game to the best of their abilities – and most importantly, to enjoy themselves while doing so. This code applies to any Ely Pickleball Club organized or sponsored event.

Best NOT to do the following;
- Criticize opponents or your partner’s play.
- Give suggestions or advice on partner’s or opponent's style/technique of play unless asked for.
- Argue about a line call – players call the ball the best they see it and this is ‘fun’ recreational play.
- Walk thru the courts during play; wait until the play stops between serves.
- Use abusive language; verbal comments of any detrimental nature during a game is unacceptable.
- Gloating or applause for an opponent’s mistake; it's unsportsmanlike.
- Remove a paddle out of the Paddle Box ‘slot’ it has been placed in by the owner.
- Spectators should NOT make line calls or other faults.
- Never throw your paddle, or otherwise purposely mishandle any equipment.
Things to DO MORE OF;
- Compliment your opponents or partner for a well-made shot.
- Communicate with your partner to eliminate confusion over whose ball it is to return.
- Be respectful of players of lesser ability; encourage their effort, praise their good shots, and don't disparage their poor ones. Be willing to share rules and strategy for novice players.
- At the end of a game, meet at the net and tap paddle ends with your partner and opponents.
- Use the paddle boxes; especially when there are several players waiting to play. Place paddle into WINNER or CHALLENGERS box to save your spot for the next game.
- Give feedback to the Board members when you have concerns, questions or ideas.
- Please introduce yourself before every game.
- Call "out balls" loudly and make sure to always call the score before you serve.
- If you’re not sure if the ball is in or out, the play is always IN.
- Immediately stop play when “ball on court” is called. “Ball on court” should only be called if it is a safety issue (rolling on someone’s court) or may affect the point at that time. Rolling along the fence does NOT constitute a safety issue, so do not disrupt the other court’s rally. Do NOT run onto someone else’s court to get your ball. Wait for them to FINISH play and then ask them to retrieve your ball.
- Members must come off the court after every game, especially when there are people waiting (4 off/4 on). Game is up to 11 winner by 1.
- I will always remember that Pickleball is a game and I am playing to have FUN.
- I will dress in safe and appropriate attire including proper court or tennis shoes that are non-marking.
- The Board has the right to suspend and/or terminate any membership for non-payment of dues, fees, or for behavior detrimental to the enjoyment of the Pickleball Club members for any reason deemed sufficient in the sole discretion of the Board.
